Cookies & browser storage

The public website
You can browse our public information pages without advertising or analytics cookies. We do not place third-party tracking pixels or embed external videos. Fonts, images, styles and scripts are served with the website.
When you use an account
Accounts are available to people aged 16 or over. No account is needed to browse or play.
The main page and game check your sign-in state so that Account and Continue controls stay correct. This check, account actions, reports and interest choices use a necessary first-party session cookie named WOOACCOUNTSESSION. It keeps those actions linked to your browser, protects requests and maintains sign-in when you log in. It contains a random identifier, rather than your email address or password.
The cookie is restricted to the current hostname. Our server sends it over secure HTTPS connections and prevents page scripts from reading it. The account session expires after 30 minutes of inactivity or 12 hours from sign-in. Signing out ends the signed-in session. Browser session-restoration settings can affect when a cookie disappears from your device; the server still enforces the session expiry.
This cookie provides account and submission functions and is not used by the new visitor or gameplay statistics collectors. It remains necessary if you request removal of earlier consent-based statistics linked to your account or browser session. You can block or remove the cookie, but registration, sign-in, saves and submissions may then fail.
Statistics without an analytics cookie
There is no pre-game analytics consent checkbox. We separately count daily network-address estimates and unlinked gameplay totals, as explained in the privacy notice. These collectors send requests without account cookies, set no analytics cookie and use no persistent browser identifier. Visitor estimates use a daily server-side keyed IP hash that is deleted after that day; gameplay totals have no IP hash or account link.
Privacy & play statistics in the game menu lets you stop future statistics requests. Only this objection preference is stored locally; it is not an identifier or a queue of events. A prior refusal under woo.play-statistics.v1 is respected, as are Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals. Refusal does not affect playing or saving. The earlier statistics removal control uses the account session only when you request removal.
Links and email
Choosing an external link takes you to another service whose cookies and privacy notice apply. An ordinary link does not load that service's tracking code on our pages. Account email delivery is described in our privacy notice.
Demo settings and progress
The demo remembers settings such as audio volume and dialogue preferences in this browser's local storage. Its retained editing tools can also store scene layouts and dialogue or sound review drafts locally when you use them. These records stay on this device unless you explicitly export them; online player accounts cannot write to the developer's private review store.
Local settings are not account game saves. Manual saves and the Part 1 completion checkpoint are stored on the account server when you choose those functions. Guest play does not create an account save. You can clear local settings and editor drafts through your browser's site-data controls; doing so does not delete server saves or your account. Settings, including a statistics objection, remain until replaced, cleared or removed by your browser. Clearing an objection may allow new statistics requests unless a browser privacy signal still blocks them.
